Grigoris Karantinakis was born in Athens. He studied scenography and costume design at cinema school L. Stayrakos.
He graduated as a director from VGIK (Russian State University of Cinematography). He worked as an art director associate and vice art director of the National theatre of Northern Greece, as well as a general director of Greek Centre of Cinematography.
Some of his works as director for theatre and cinema include: Blackbird, The Bench, Electra, The Girl with the Black Dress, Haritona’s Chorus, Giougerman, Earth and Sky, The Forrest, A Wonderful Day, The Voice.
